Louisville Police Officer Resigns After Revenge Porn Conviction in Kentucky
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) officer, Harry Seeders, has resigned following his conviction under Kentucky’s revenge porn law for distributing nonconsensual explicit images.
Seeders, 32, was arrested last week after authorities determined he sent a sexually explicit image—specifically, a photo of a woman’s exposed breasts—to 19 individuals via a group text message without the woman’s consent. This act constituted a direct violation of Kentucky Revised Statutes § 531.120, the state’s law addressing the distribution of intimate images without consent.
On Monday, LMPD released a brief statement:
“Harry Seeders turned in his resignation letter today.”
Sentencing and Legal Consequences
Although Seeders was sentenced to one year in jail, the court ruled he will not serve time behind bars if he complies with all conditions of his sentence. These include:
- Undergoing a mandatory mental health evaluation
- Surrendering his law enforcement certification, effectively ending his police career
As part of a plea deal, the court also dismissed prior assault charges against Seeders during sentencing proceedings on Thursday.
Implications for Law Enforcement and Revenge Porn Prosecutions
Seeders’ conviction marks a notable application of Kentucky’s revenge porn statute to a law enforcement officer, drawing attention to both the growing enforcement of nonconsensual image sharing laws and the professional standards expected of public servants.
This case underscores the serious criminal and career consequences that can result from the unlawful distribution of private, sexually explicit content—even for first-time offenders or public officials.
